Introduction: Find a partner, because Metaforges next tournament will be a
DOUBLES tournament. We plan to start the tournament in January, 2012 and finish in time for March Madness.
Tournament organization team
McLovin (Team Leader) lightwing (Deputy team leader / supervision) Razorclaw (Member of the organization team)
Sohal (Member of the organization team)
BlasdeLezo (Member of the organization team)
Chipi (Member of the organization team)
Sekertzis (Member of the organization team) Please note that only these 7 players may be asked to be an arbiter in a tournament game. To contact one of the team members you can either talk to one online or mail them by using the following e-mail address:
tournament@metaforge.net. Using this e-mail address will send an e-mail to all team members.
How does it work? Sign-ups can either be as two-player teams or as individuals who can then either pair up themselves or be assigned a partner by the tournament organization team.
Each team of 2 players will need to decide who is Player 1 and who is Player 2, and these assignments must remain the same for the entire tournament.
Teams will then be randomly assigned into a single elimination bracket, similar to our prior tournaments.
In each contest, Player 1 from team A will play Player 1 from team B and Player 2 from team A will play Player 2 from team B.
The team scores 2 points for each win, 1 point for a draw, and no points for a loss.
If, after 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2, the score is tied, then a third game will be played. Each team will decide who plays the tie-breaker for their team. The team to declare first who will play the tie-breaker game for their team will be the team that lost the first game played in the contest. If, after this tie-breaker game, a tie still exists, then the other player for each team will play each other.
High score between the two teams decides which team moves on to the next level of the bracket.
Rules In order to run a tournament as smoothly and clearly as possible we need some rules. We have discussed the rules and have come to the following terms:
Games
must be played with
Range Attack enabled.
Games
must be played with
Public Viewable enabled.
Game aids are
off by default.
Remain visible is
off by default.
Game timer is set to 60 seconds
by default.
Games
must be ranked.
Players may choose to refrain from using the default rules only if
both players agree.
Obviously, range attack, ranked and public viewable are mandatory.
If one of the players does not want to use rules other than the default ones, the game will be played by the default rules.
Team players
can help and can confere to eachother during a game (it is a team game tourny after all).
Arbiter A player has the right to request an arbiter in his/her game. Arbiters must be part of the tournament organization team. Any decisions made by players/moderators/admins who are not part of the tournament team will not be valid for the tournament.
Disconnects In case there is a server crash, the game must be replayed unless
both players agree that one of the player was in a huge lead or very likely to win and both agree that one of the players will advance to the next round.
In the unfortunate case a player disconnects or has other (technical) issues, the game will be lost by this player if the game has either 10 or more moves, or the other player had a good advantage over the other player. The tournament team may decide to let a game be replayed if there is a legitimate reason.
Please note that we are appealing to players to use their best sportsmanship. Additional tournament rules Requirements In order to be allowed to participate in the tournament you must be ranked in the 6 month rankings at the time of the pairings. There is no maximum number of teams that can participate in this tournament.
Signup period closes at 0000 hrs Meta time on 3 January 2012.
Teams may be formed of any two ranked members as long as each member is ranked
outside the top 25 on the 6 month rankings.
Restrictions exist for top 25 players.
the restrictions consist of the following:
no teams overall ranking can be less than 10 combined. such as hielco (ranked #1) and lightwing (ranked #3) being in a team due to their combined rank off 4. sohal and sadistic would make a combined ranking of 10, which would be fine.
please note that the restrictions have been change after being reviewed. the rankings will be taken from the 31st december. so please make sure that the teams were restrictions apply too, have the correct rankings for the 31st december. thanks.
Aliases Aliases are not allowed to participate; only one name may participate.
Pairing We will make usage of a site called Challonge
www.challonge.com to make the tournament bracket. The order of entering players into the program is by signup order. The software will then create a bracket based on a pattern which is rather simple. If there would be 16 players, it would be: 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc.
Because it is possible to influence the pairing by signing up after certain people have signed up, the signup list will be put into:
http://www.random.org/lists/ which will randomize a new order for the list which shall be put into the bracket software afterwards.
Duration of rounds Round 1: Best of 3
Quarter-Finals: Best of 3
Semi-Finals: Best of 3
Finals: Best of 5 We have decided to make every round last roughly 10 days.
All rounds will follow the same format for deciding the winner.
The losers of the semi-finals are allowed to play a match for #3 and #4. If neither player wants to play the match, that is fine.
Wins count as 2 points, draws as 1 point, and losses count as 0 points.
Behavior Normal civilized behaviour while observering a game is expected from everyone. Please respect the other players. Failure to comply with this might result in escalation or/and measures against that player including but not limited to exclusion from the site or/and tournament.
Prizes A tournament without prizes would not be a tournament.
Medals will be awarded to each member of the first and second place teams.
