The Eastern Bracket favorites hit cruise control in the second round. The shoe clerks were all excused as the talent rolled. There were no second round upsets, and as a result the top 4 seeds advanced to the third round. None of the winners had to come from behind, either. The third round figures to be highly competitive. None of these guys can be counted on to make any mistakes. Expect each game to be settled by a careful struggle to get a slight advantage and not let it slip. Third Round Match-ups #1 Sohal (2242-655-138), overall rank #2 with krach of 8721 VS. #4 darkhorse26 (2701-1683-139), overall rank #15 with krach of 2799 Both players showed awesome talent in the second round and are here by skill, not luck. Head-to-head, Sohal leads 45-21. Incredibly, they have never tied. Sohal has won the last 15 straight. Someone has to be playing aggressively to prevent any ties at this level of play, so my guess is that Sohal has figured out darkhorse’s offensive style. In order to win, darkhorse may need to change something. #2 TNRockyraccoon (1910-1163-89), overall rank #7 with krach of 3876 VS. #3 SEKERTZIS (5015-2216-184), overall rank #11 with krach of 3397 TNR earned the solid win over LB while SEK continued to play like the script from a James Bond movie where all of the bullets miss the hero as he runs uncovered through a hail of fire to deliver a perfectly timed shot, blowing up the enemy lair and bagging the babe. With SEK this hot, you have to think TNR is going to hunker down and play solid defense. These two players know how to calculate and plan ahead, so it should be a lot of fun to watch. TNR owns the head-to-head 3-1, but these two haven’t played in nearly 2 years. Most of the past year, TNR has been MIA, while SEK puts in some serious hours every week. I expect a back-and-forth struggle rather than a wire-to-wire lead.
