Good old fashioned I hate this player because post
Jun 27th, 2012, 10:46am

Today I was playing a game with Ingalls. He joined my game and I gladly played him.

The game was only a few minutes in when my computer started to crash. I knew it was happening and told him. Unfortunately I couldn't get Meta logged on quick enough to resume our game.

I asked him if he'd take a draw since our game was early and mostly even. He refused.

No class at all.

I would understand if the game was near the end or if he had a piece advantage. But this was clearly not the case.

Those that know me.....know I can win and lose with class, and that I'm fair about things. Now I know what kind of player Ingalls is and he is no longer welcome to join my games.

Thank you, Ingalls, for your good sportsmanship.  I removed the game per your response above.

well, Ingalls, i asked you if you agreed to remove that game when you were online just after your game with TNR.
You couldn't said "yes" or "no", and were complaining about that 3 years old game.
Finally you left whithout an answer.

It's in French.  I unfortunately only speak English, and through a translator, it was hard to determine who said what.  I removed the game based on Ingalls post above.

I removed the June 11, 2012 game when Ingalls had the same problem, as Rocky said it was fine to do, so both of your games when each lost to an early disconnect have been removed.

Perhaps there were some things lost in translation.

I tried to talk with Ingalls as did Sohal, and maybe neither of us understood him.

I think the problem lies with the way games have to be removed in the event of an unintentional problem.

Getting in touch with an opponent and trying to get them in touch with a mod to remove a game can be difficult.

I think if games are reviewable, any game in question could be decided without consent by Admins under a few criteria.

1. No apparent piece advantage to winning player. (obviously, if the non disconnecting player has a power position in the game, they should probably be awarded the game).

2. Low moves. If the game is new and under 150 moves or less than 10 minutes.

3. No evidence of intentional disconnect or past record of leaving games hastily.

4. IF TNROCKYRACCOON ok's it. Wink

Anyway, thanks for your reply Ingalls, and thanks for working on this mods.

Hi Rocky.  I cancelled the game on the 27th per Ingalls' post above.  He made reference to checking what was said to Sohal, as he was claiming he did say it was ok.  I just re-read chat again.  I did not see the "c' bon" Ingalls referenced, and could not understand the French dialogue.  You and Ingalls spoke and he mentioned a game you two had where he disconnected, and said this one and that one could be a draw, so he was agreeing.  You said fine, tell Sohal to void.  I just voided both (versus draw). A draw has a negative effect on krach (not as bad as a loss) and a void makes the game non-existent.

So, Ingalls did agree that day, to make a draw on both games where each of you took a loss, to make it even (and you were fine with it too).  Maybe it all happened so fast that something did in fact get lost in translation.    Smiley

I dunno, this thread may end up being "Good old fashioned I love this player because post....."   Grin   Thanks for the happy ending, guys.   Wink
