The Chat Room (Next: Configuration)
After logging into the game, you will enter the Web Stratego Chatroom.
From there, you may talk with others in the room or join a game. Click
on the "thumbnail" to your right for a preview of the Chatroom. Keep your
eye on the status bar in the lower left corner of the window for
various messages.
Communicating with Other Users
- To send a public message to everyone in the Chatroom. First select the "Outgoing Message" field and type your message. Hitting return or the "Broadcast" button will send the message to everyone.
- To send a private message, select the name(s) of the player(s) you want to send your message to from the Players list. Then select the "Outgoing Message" text field and enter your message. Clicking on the "Transmit" button will send your message to the players highlighted in the Players List.
- To block incoming messages from a specific player who may be harrassing you, just right click on the user you would like to ignore and select the Ignore menu item. Ignoring a user lasts only for your current session. If you logout and login again, you will have to re-do the ignore setting.
- To see another player's rankings, simply move your mouse over the player's name in the list. Rankings will be shown at the bottom of the screen.
Joining a Game
The easiest way to get started is to join an existing open game. The list of available games can be viewed on the upper left part of the screen. Within the Games box, you will see a list of games with in the form of 2p Conan (2) * < .- The Symbols:
2p - This is a two player game.
Conan - This is the name of the game creator
(2) - The number of players currently joined in a four player game
* - The game is password protected. You will need to enter the correct password in the password field before joining.
< - This indicates which game you are currently in.
- To see what options are enabled for a game in the list, simply move your mouse pointer overtop of the game. Information will be shown at the bottom of the chat room window. Double click on a game in the list to open a popup window with more details.
- To leave a game you are in, just click on the "Unjoin" button. If the game creator terminates the game, all players that were in the game will automatically "unjoin".
